How to Edit an ASUS Splash Screen

By Jeff Grundy

Like many other motherboard makers, ASUS continues to advertise their boards long after the sale -- with the splash screen that displays when you boot your computer. Most ASUS motherboards provide an option in the system BIOS, though, that allows you to disable the splash screen during startup. Although not included in the system BIOS, ASUS also offers a free utility that allows you to customize the boot splash screen by using any supported image from your hard drive. With the MyLogo or MyLogo2 utility, you can replace the boot splash images quickly.

Things You'll Need

  • ASUS motherboard drivers and utilities installation disc

Step 1

Insert the ASUS motherboard installation disc into the CD/DVD drive of your computer. After the ASUS set-up or installation wizard window appears, click the "Install AI Utilities" or "Install ASUS Utilities" link, depending on the model of your motherboard and the software version that shipped with it.

Step 2

Select the ASUS utilities you want to install. All utilities are optional, but be sure you select the "MyLogo" or "MyLogo2" option so that you can replace the boot screen logo on your computer. After you select the utilities you want to install, click the "Continue" or "Next" button. Wait a few seconds for the utility to scan your system and verify you have an ASUS motherboard installed. The setup wizard installs the selected utilities and the AI Utilities or AI Suite Utilities launch bar.

Step 3

Click "Finish" or "Restart" when prompted. The set-up wizard restarts your computer.

Step 4

Click "Start," and then "All Programs." Click the "ASUS" or "ASUS AI Utilities" folder link, and then "ASUS AI" or "ASUS AI Suite Utilities."

Step 5

Click the "Update" button on the toolbar, and then the "MyLogo" link. Select the "Change the BIOS Boot Logo of My Motherboard" option and click "Next."

Step 6

Click the "Browse" button. Navigate to a folder on your computer that contains an image file you want to use as the splash screen on your computer. Motherboards with the MyLogo utility support .BMP or .JPG images up to 640 x 480 pixels in size. MyLogo2 allows you to use .BMP or .JPG images of any size. Highlight the image file name and click "Open."

Step 7

Click the "Next" button in the ASUS MyLogo window. Click the "AutoTune" window to resize the image automatically. Alternatively, use the "Resolution" slider to increase or decrease the size of the image in the preview window as needed. Click the "Booting Preview" button to preview the splash screen in full-screen mode.

Step 8

Click the screen to close the full-screen preview. Resize the image in the preview window as needed. Click the "Next" button.

Step 9

Click the "Flash" button and wait a few seconds for the utility to write the image file to the system BIOS. After the utility updates the BIOS, the computer restarts automatically. During the reboot process, your selected image appears as the splash screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have the CD for your ASUS motherboard, download the AI Suite or ASUS Utilities set-up file for your particular model from the ASUS Support website.
