Pop-up blockers are software applications that prevent pop-ups from opening on a computer without the user's permission. These programs are built into many web browsers, but they also exist as "add-ons" for browsers not equipped with them. Knowing how to locate a pop-up blocker on a computer will let a user know whether the machine is protected.
Click "Start," then click "Programs."
Open the computer's Internet browser.
Click the "Tools" menu.
Click "Add-ons" or "Manage Add-ons." This will display a list of the add-ons installed in the browser. Search the list for names of pop-up blockers such as "Popup Master" or "Popup Blocker Free Edition."
