How to Install Yahoo! Home Pages

A browser home page is the page set to appear when you click the "Home" button on your browser or when you first open your browser. A home page is typically a Web page that you visit regularly and frequently. Yahoo! is Web site that features news, e-mail, stocks and other important information. If you want to set Yahoo! as your home page, you can easily do so using the tools in your browser. Note that setting the home page for each browser is slightly different.

Firefox

Step 1

Start the Firefox browser on your computer by double-clicking the desktop shortcut icon or by clicking "Start," selecting "All Programs" and clicking "Mozilla Firefox."

Step 2

Click the "Firefox" menu button in the upper-left corner of the window. Scroll over and click the "Options" selection.

Step 3

Select the "General" tab. Highlight the Web address currently in the "Home Page" field, and delete it.

Step 4

Type "http://www.yahoo.com" into the "Home Page" field.

Step 5

Click "OK" to save your changes. Restart Firefox to start the browser on the Yahoo! home page.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Start the Internet Explorer browser on your computer by double-clicking the desktop shortcut icon or by clicking "Start," selecting "All Programs" and clicking "Internet Explorer."

Step 2

Click "Tools," located on the right side of the browser window. Scroll down, and click the "Internet Options" selection.

Step 3

Select the "General" tab. Highlight the Web address currently in the "Home page" field, and delete it.

Step 4

Type "http://www.yahoo.com" into the "Home page" text box.

Step 5

Click "OK" to save your changes. Restart Internet Explorer to start the browser on the Yahoo! home page.

Safari

Step 1

Start the Safari Web browser on your computer by clicking "Safari" in your dock.

Step 2

Click "Safari" in the file menu. Scroll down and click "Preferences."

Step 3

Select the "General" tab. Highlight the Web address currently in the "Home page" field, and delete it.

Step 4

Type "http://www.yahoo.com" into the "Home page" field.

Step 5

Click the red circle "X" in the upper-left corner of the window to save your changes. Restart Safari to start the browser with the Yahoo! home page.

Chrome

Step 1

Start the Google Chrome browser on your computer by double-clicking the desktop shortcut icon or by clicking "Start," selecting "All Programs" and clicking "Google Chrome."

Step 2

Click the "Wrench" icon in the upper-right corner of the browser window. Scroll down and click "Options." The "Options" window will open in a new tab in the browser.

Step 3

Click the "Basics" option on the left side of the page. Locate the "Home page" section on the right side of the page.

Step 4

Select "Open this page," and delete the Web address currently in the field.

Step 5

Type "http://www.yahoo.com" into the empty field. Click the "X" button at the top of the "Options" tab to exit the options tab and save your changes. Restart Chrome to start the browser on the Yahoo! home page.
