How to Make a Male Voice Sound Like a Female Voice on GarageBand

By Dabney Bailey

GarageBand is an audio modification program that enables users to create music and alter sound effects to make songs. One feature of the program is voice modification, which changes the quality of voice recordings so that they sound drastically different, such as changing a male voice to a female voice. Not only is this modification a great way to entertain friends, but it can enable you to create song styles and moods that might otherwise be beyond your reach due to the qualities of your voice.

Step 1

Open the GarageBand application. Click "Track," then "Delete Track" to delete the default piano track. Create a new track by clicking "Track, then "New Track."

Step 2

Click "Real Instrument" in the pop-up window to enable voice recordings.

Step 3

Click on the "Record" button and speak or sing to make a recording. Press the space bar to stop the recording.

Step 4

Click the "Podcasting" option on the sidebar on the right to access the effects.

Step 5

Select "Male to Female" to change your male voice recording to sound female.

Step 6

Click the "Save" button to save your male to female recording.
