How to Make Yahoo the Home Page

The Yahoo home page serves as a portal where you have direct access to various Yahoo services such as Mail, News, Sports and more. To have access to these services as soon as you open your Web browser, set the Yahoo home page as your browser's home page.

Internet Explorer 11

Navigate to using Internet Explorer, and then right-click the Home icon on the upper-right of the browser window. On the context menu that shows up, click Add or Change Home Page. Select the Use this page as your only home page option, and then click OK to set Yahoo as the Internet Explorer home page. To manually set the home page, click the gear-shaped icon on any open Internet Explorer window, and then select Internet Options. Under the General tab, replace the current home page URL with, and then click Apply.

Mozilla Firefox

Visit, and then click the button with three-horizontal lines on the upper-right of the Mozilla Firefox window. On the menu that shows up, click Options to open Firefox Options. Under the General tab under the Startup section, click Use Current Page to automatically set Yahoo as the home page. If you aren't on the Yahoo website, enter the into the Home Page field instead. Click OK to save the changes.

Google Chrome

Open a new tab in Google Chrome, enter chrome://settings/ into the URL bar, and then press Enter to go to the Chrome Settings screen. Under the On Startup section, check the radio button next to Open a specific page or set of pages, and then click Set Pages. Enter into the box next to Add a New Page, and then click OK to set Yahoo as your home page. Further, you can opt for a Home button by checking Show Home Button under the Appearance section.


On any open Safari window, visit the Yahoo home page, and then press Ctrl-, to open the Preferences window. Under the General tab, click Set to Current Page to set Yahoo as the Safari home page. Alternately, enter into the box next to Homepage. Close the Preferences box to save the changes.
