How to Monitor Police Frequencies Online

Monitoring police frequencies online can be an exciting and useful way to get information about an breaking news event in your area. Instead of relying on tomorrow's newspaper for information about why police are blocking off a certain street or have surrounded a house, you can now jump online and listen to the police scanner frequencies yourself. Keep in mind that some police departments have yet to allow this to happen so you are out of luck if you wanted to listen to them do their work.

Police Scanner

Step 1

Open a browser and go to "Police-scanner.info" on the web.

Step 2

Click either the "Police Scanner Audio Feeds" or the "Police Scanner Frequencies" link on the left side of the page.

Step 3

Hit the link to the area or municipality that appears on the next page.

Step 4

Hit the link on the page that appears to listen to the frequency. These links go to independent sites and vary in how the work and are designed. In general, the page will contain a link that when you use it, it will launch a media application like Windows Media Player.

Radio Reference

Step 1

Open a browser and go to "Radioreference.com" on the web.

Step 2

Click the "Live Audio" link at the top of the page. Scroll down and click "Live Audio Home." Click the state where the frequency resides on the map. Click the county where the frequency resides.

Step 3

Click the drop-down menu to choose the application that you want to use to listen to the live frequency. Hit the speaker icon to listen.

Step 1

Open a browser and go to "www.dxzone.com/catalog/Internet_and_Radio/Police_Scanners/" on the web.

Step 2

Click the link to the municipality or area that you want to listen to the frequency.

Step 3
