How to Program a Lucent Phone System

Whether you have a Lucent telephone at home or at the office, programming your phone to suit your needs can make calling more efficient. Formerly known as Lucent Technologies, Alcatel-Lucent creates a wide range of phone and modem products for both the home and office. Although programming may very slightly from phone to phone, the basic programming on all Lucent phones is the same.

Programming the Time

Step 1

Go to the phone with extension 10 or 11. You must program the time for all phones within the network at the same time, and this must be done from the phone with extension 10 or 11.

Press the "Feature" button. Push "00."

Step 3

Push the intercom button on the left two times.

Step 4

Press the "#" key. Dial "103" to set the time. The time must be set in a 24-hour format, like military time. If you want to set the time for 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, you would enter 14:00 hours.

Step 5

Push the "#" button. Dial "101" to set the date. Dates must be entered in double-digit month, double-digit day and double-digit year format. For example, if you're setting the date to December 3, 2010, you would enter "120310."

Step 6

Press the "Feature" key. Push "00." This will save your programming changes.

Programming Abbreviated Dialing or Call Memory Buttons

Step 1

Push the "Menu" key. Press the key under "Program" on the telephone's display screen. The display screen will prompt you to press a button to program the numbers.

Step 2

Press the key under "AD" to program. If the "AD" selection does not appear on the display screen, push "Menu" and "Next" to find the "AD" selection. The display screen will ask you if you want to change the number.

Step 3

Select "1" for yes or "2" for no. Push the number you want to program, such as "3." Enter the full phone number you want programmed for that number button. Press the "#" key to save your new programming. The display screen will notify you once the information has been saved. After the number has been saved, the display will ask you if you want to change the label for the number key you just updated.

Step 4

Push "1" for yes or "2" for no. You can enter up to five characters for each label. Press the "#" key to save the information once you're finished. The display screen will notify you once the new label has been saved.

Step 5

Repeat for additional numbers. Select "Menu," press "Program" and push "Exit" to exit programming mode once you've completed all your programming.
