IMVU is a software application that allows participation in a 3D chat environment using virtual avatars of your own creation. Removing the software can be tricky, however, as portions of the application are contained in multiple locations on your hard drive. While Windows Uninstaller can generally remove the application, you may have to remove parts manually to be sure that the removal process is complete.
Click on the "Start" button located on your Windows 7 toolbar to open the "Start" menu, and then click "Control Panel."

Select the "Programs" option followed by "Programs and Features." This opens the "Uninstall or change a program" window, which lists all applications currently installed on your system.
Locate the IMVU listing among the programs, and then highlight it with your mouse by clicking on it.
Click "Uninstall" in the menu running across the top of the window. Click the "Yes" button to confirm your choice in the window that pops up, and then wait for Windows to uninstall the IMVU software from your system. Windows will attempt to remove all traces of IMVU from your system by deleting the program files from the hard drive, removing the program listing from the "Start" menu and removing mention of the program from the Windows registry. The uninstallation will take less than five minutes, though this varies based on the speed of your system.
Verify that IMVU has been removed by pressing the "Start" button and selecting "All Programs" to list the software that is installed on your computer. Look for the IMVU program group. The "Uninstall" command should have removed the listing. If the listing is still present, open the group and right-click on the name of the first application listed under the group name. Select "Open File Location" from the pop-up list of options. This will open the IMVU folder on your hard drive that contains all of the main IMVU program files.
Highlight all of the files within the IMVU directory by dragging your mouse around them while holding down the mouse button. Right-click on the highlighted files, and then select "Delete."
Press the "Start" button, and then click "Computer" to open Windows Explorer. Click on your "C:>" drive, select the "Users" directory, click the directory containing your Windows user name and open the "Application Data" directory. Highlight the folders labeled "IMVU" and "IMVUClient." Right-click on the folders, and then select "Delete" to remove any remaining IMVU data files from your system.
