Dead pixels often occur in the LCD screens of computers, televisions and other devices. This happens when a component fails and causes a pixel to go black. Sometimes this can spread to other pixels, which can appear as a "hole" in the screen. This is frustrating when watching television or using the computer. Following these steps can help to remove dead pixels and prevent them from spreading.
Screen Massage
Step 1
Use a removable office sticky note to mark the location of the dead pixels, then turn off the LCD screen.

Step 2
Dampen a cloth. Apply pressure to the area with the dead pixel with one finger.
Step 3
While keeping pressure on the area, turn the LCD screen back on.
Step 4
Remove the pressure from the screen. The dead pixel will be eliminated and will be unable to spread.
Computer Pixel Repair Software
Step 1
Download the free JScreenFix software program, available from www.jscreenfix.com or from a free download site. Open the JScreenFix applet.
Step 2
Move the applet to where the dead pixel is located on the screen. If there are multiple dead pixels, you can expand the size of the applet.
Step 3
Run the applet for 20 minutes. This will display fast-moving color patterns over the dead pixel area.
Step 4
Check your screen after the 20 minutes. The dead pixel should be removed.
