How to Use DVD Lens Cleaner

By Dan Falk

Maintaining and properly caring for your DVD player is essential if you want to extend the life of the device. A DVD lens cleaner system, which costs around $15, is one way to care for your DVD player.

Step 1

Take out the components of your DVD lens cleaning kit. Try the actual Cleansing DVD first, which should take care of your problems.

Step 2

Place the DVD in the player and hit "Play." This DVD will cleanse the lens and make sure everything is playing properly. If the problem persists you can continue with the liquid lens cleaner.

Step 3

Unscrew the outer casing on the DVD player and find the actual laser lens. It is right below the DVD loading tray on one of the sides.

Step 4

Take the liquid lens cleaner and dab just a small drop onto the laser lens. Let it sit for about 10 seconds, then use the cleaning cloth and wipe it clean. Be gentle, because if you press too hard the laser could get damaged.
