How to Watch a Digital TV Without Using a Converter Box

Digital television signals officially replaced analog television signals as the standard broadcast signal in mid-2009. Converter boxes were created for the purpose of converting the digital broadcast signal to an analog signal for analog televisions. However, if you already have a television that can receive digital signals, then you do not need a converter box.

Step 1

Connect one end of your coaxial cable to a coaxial port near your television.

Connect the other end of your coaxial cable to the coaxial port on the back of your television.

Step 3

Turn your television on and press the "Menu" button on your television remote. Select the "Automatic Channel Search" option in your television's menu and the television will automatically detect any channels in your cable's digital signal. After the search, you can press the "Channel Up" or "Channel Down" button to scroll through these channels.
