How to Block a Website in Google Chrome
Whether it's you or the kids who are spending too much time on certain websites -- or you've encountered a site with too many pop-ups -- you may find a need to block the offending site. Google's Chrome browser doesn't have a native feature that allows you to block websites, but one of its compatible third-party extensions can do the job for you. To get started, launch Chrome and go to the Chrome Web Store. Then type "website blocker" into the search box on the left side of the page to turn up website-blocking extensions you can download.

Navigate to the site you want to block using the Chrome browser.
Click the blue, globe icon -- the Website Blocker icon -- just to the right of your browser bar.
Enter the amount of time you want to block the website in the pop-up box that appears on your screen and then click "Block This!"
Locate the "Block Site" extension among the list of search results.
Click "Free" to download it to Chrome and then click in the permission box to give the extension permission to access your browsing data.
Click "Extension Settings" after the extension loads.
Click inside the "Block Site" check box and then type the URL of a website you want to block in the List of Blocked Sites section. Click "Add Page." Continue to add as many sites as you wish to block.
Click inside the "Enable Authentication" box so that a check mark appears. Then type the password you want to use to unblock the site when you enter the password and click "Set Password."
Locate the "StayFocusd" extension in the search results.
Click "Free" to download the extension to Chrome and then click in the permission box to give the extension permission to access your browsing data.
Navigate to the site you want to block by entering its URL into the browser window.
Click the StayFocusd icon, which looks like a round, analog clock and is located to the right of the browser window to launch StayFocusd.
Click "Advanced Options" from the window that appears to set an amount of time you want this particular website blocked or to set days of the week when you can access the site. Click the "Nuclear Option" button to completely block the site regardless of any time limit you've imposed.
