Do you have a Mac and a PC, but aren't sure how to exchange files between your computers? In the past it wasn't easy because of the machines' incompatible operating systems, but now you can simply connect the computers with a USB data transfer cable and drag files from one computer to the other.

Step 1

On a Mac-to-PC USB cable, the connection plugs are the same on both ends, so it doesn't matter which plug is connected to which computer. Plug one end of the 6-foot cable into a USB port on your Mac.

Step 2

Plug the second end into a USB port on your PC. Because software drivers are built into the cable, they will install automatically when the second connection is made.

Step 3

Drag and drop your files from computer to computer. On your Mac, a PC icon will be displayed on your desktop. Drag and drop files to your PC by dropping them on the icon. To send files from your PC to your Mac, click "My Computer" on the PC and there will be a "D" or "E" drive displayed to signify the Mac. Drag and drop any files you want to transfer into that icon.
