How to Connect a PlayStation With a DirecTV Receiver

By Greyson Ferguson

A television set can work well on its own, but chances are, you'll want to connect multiple devices to the set. This includes a satellite receiver and video game system. DirecTV is one of the leading satellite providers and the Sony PlayStation one of the most popular video game systems. It only takes a few minutes to connect the two devices.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 sets of RCA audio/video cables

Step 1

Plug the red, white and yellow RCA video cables into the "Video Out" port on your DirecTV receiver. Make sure the colors of the cables match the colors of your receiver.

Step 2

Insert the opposite end of the cables into one of the "Video In" ports on your television.

Step 3

Connect the second pair of RCA audio/video cables into the "Out" port on your PlayStation. These cables are included with the PlayStation.

Step 4

Plug the other end of the cables into one of the "Video In" ports on your television.

Step 5

Power on the television and the device you want to use (PlayStation or DirecTV receiver). Press the "Video" button on the TV's remote control to switch over to the first video connection. Press the button again to switch to the second video connection. Push the video button again until you reach the TV tuner when you have finished using the two devices.
