Converting an AVI file to DVD VOB is easy with Handbrake.

Handbrake is a program that allows users to convert their digital videos into different formats. VOB or "Video Object" format is a video codec that is used by most of the video playback software packages for each operating system. AVI is a video format that video playback applications will need a plugin to read. Fortunately, Handbrake offers users a means to convert their AVI files into VOB format with only a few clicks of a mouse.

Step 1

Double click on your Handbrake application icon and wait for the software to load.

Click on the "Source" tab on the top left hand side of the screen. A small window will pop up asking you to select a file for conversion.

Select the AVI file you want to convert and click on the "Ok" tab at the bottom right hand side of the screen.

Wait for Handbrake to scan your file.

Step 5

Click on the "Video" menu at the bottom of the screen.

Click on the "Format" menu and select "VOB" from the dropdown menu.

Go to the top of the software window and click on the "Browse" button next to the "Destination" bar. Select your "Desktop" as the destination so you have handy access to your file.

Click on the "Start" tab at the top of the software menu.

Step 9

Wait for Handbrake to convert your file.
