How to Convert Files to Embroidery Files

Embroidery files can be used with specialized sewing machines to embroider patterns. Image files can be converted to embroidery files, which makes it possible to embroider almost any pattern or design. Conversion programs allow you to convert image files to embroidery files. These programs also can convert one kind of embroidery file to another.

Wilcom TrueSizer

Step 1

Download the program Wilcom TrueSizer; you may need to register on the site before you can download the program, but registration is free. Save the program to your desktop and double-click to launch the program.

Step 2

Click the "Open Folder" icon. Use the drop-down menu to browse for the file you want to convert. Click on it and click "Open."

Step 3

Click on the "File" menu, choose "Save as" and the file format you want to use. Click "Save" and the file will automatically be converted.

Tajima Ambassador

Step 1

Register for free on the Tajima Ambassador website and download the program; install and open the program.

Step 2

Click the "File" menu and "Open." Browse for the file you want to convert using the search dialog box and click "Open."

Step 3

Click the "File" menu, choose "Save as" and the file format you want to use. Click "Save." The file will be converted.

Embird

Step 1

Download a trial version of Embird for free and purchase it later if you choose. Save the program to your desktop and double-click on the program to run it.

Step 2

Choose the files you want to convert in the "Files:" dialog box. Select the "Right Panel -> Convert Files" option.

Step 3

Choose the file type you want to use and "OK" to convert the files.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make backup copies of your embroidery files so you will not lose the data if one copy is accidentally deleted.
  • Turning off your PC while running file conversion software can corrupt the files you are trying to convert.
