Movie clips appear in various forms online. When streaming directly from websites, they may be in the Flash Video (.flv) or MPEG (.mpg) formats. If you receive the movie clip on a sharing network, it may be in the audio video interleave (.avi) or Windows Media Video (.wmv) format. In order to convert any of these formats into an MPEG-4 (.mp4), you can use an online conversion service, which performs this kind of conversion for free.
Go to mediaconverter.org. Select "upload a file," pick your movie clip and click the arrow.
Choose "mp4" as your target format and click the arrow again.
Click "start" to begin the transfer and "download" to receive the MP4.
Load zamzar.com. Click "Browse" and select your movie clip.
Opt for "mp4" as your target format and enter your email address.
Click "Convert" to transfer the movie clip. Then open your email inbox--you'll soon receive a message containing your MP4 download link.
Launch media-convert.com. Click "Browse" and pick out your movie clip.
Select your movie clip's input format in the drop-down menu and pick "MPEG-4 Video (.mp4)" as your target format.
Click "OK" to convert the file and "Download" to receive your MP4.
