Connecting a comptuer to a TV can be a useful way to display videos, photos and your computer desktop on a large screen. Video Graphics Array (VGA) is the standard display connection used on computer monitors, so almost all computers have a VGA connector, but few TVs are able to accept VGA. Since a composite video connection is one of the most common connections on a TV, you may need to convert VGA to AV using a special adapter.
Connect one end of the VGA cable to the VGA port on your computer.
Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA to AV adapter.
Plug one end of the AV cable into the VGA to AV adapter.
Plug the other end of the AV cable into an open AV port on your TV. Most TVs have two or more AV connections, and one may be located on the side of the TV.
Turn on the TV and start up the computer. The TV will act as a monitor. Your video card must support dual screens if you hook up the TV in addition to your normal monitor.
Things You'll Need
VGA to AV (composite) adapter
VGA is a video only interface, meaning it will not send audio signals. When you hook up a TV with VGA, the sound will play out of your normal computer speakers rather than the speakers of the TV.
