A website that appears repeatedly may be a pesky pop-up or a sign that your computer is infected with a browser hijacker. Browser hijackers are malicious programs that generally change your Internet homepage and redirect your Internet searches to certain websites. Regardless of the cause, you can get rid of the nuisance website by editing a Windows file. Additionally, consider running an anti-malware program.
Click "Start," type "run" into the search field and press "Enter." The Run box opens.
Type "c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" into the Run box and press "Enter."
Double-click "Notepad" when asked what program you would like to use to open the file.
Scroll down to the bottom of the file and type "127.0.0.1 name.com" so that it is the last line of text. Note that "name.com" should be replaced with the name of the website that keeps popping up.
Click "File" and "Save." The website is now prevented from popping up or being accessed in any Web browser.
