How to Delete Songs From The iPod Nano

By Julius Vandersteen

After you have listened to all the songs on your iPod nano, you might want to delete some to make room for new songs. The iPod, a portable music player made by Apple, has a touch-sensitive display and has a capacity of 8GB or 16GB, depending on the configuration. You cannot delete songs using the device; you have to connect your iPod Nano to your computer and launch Apple's free iTunes application to add or delete music.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable

Step 1

Launch iTunes on your computer. You use iTunes to play music and manage your iPod nano.

Step 2

Connect your iPod nano to a USB port on your computer, using the device's included USB cable.

Step 3

Click the icon of your iPod nano under "Devices" in the left pane of the iTunes application window.

Step 4

Click the "Music" tab.

Step 5

Click the "Sync Music" check box to select it. Lists of albums, playlists, artists and genres appear in the iTunes application window.

Step 6
