The Location Services feature on the iPhone uses GPS technology to track your location -- information which is used to tag photographs, obtain directions and give you location-specific news and events. This information can be helpful to the iPhone user, but it can also create privacy concerns. If you don't want your iPhone to be tracked, Apple does make it easy for users to turn off Location Services completely, or for individual applications. This can be particularly useful for individuals who post iPhone photos online, as the location tag is stored within the file and can be accessed by others.
Press the "Settings" icon on your iPhone.
Click on "General" and find the "Location Services" menu. Click on the Location Services menu to disable your iPhone from being tracked.
Press the On/Off switch next to each application you want to disable Location Services for. When disabled, the word "On" will be highlighted in blue. To disable Location Services completely, press the On/Off switch at the top of the page.
