The HP CUE Device Discovery Service is one of those Windows services that often seems to hinder more than help. The service sometimes installs on your operating system when you add Hewlett-Packard hardware, such as a printer or scanner, to your computer. You can safely disable the HP Cue Device Discovery Service in the "Services" dialog window.
Press the Alt, Ctrl and Delete keys at the same time to launch the Windows Task Manager utility.
Select the Services tab at the top of the Task Manager window.
Right-click the HP Cue Device Discovery Service entry, usually listed as "HPQDDSVC" in the Task Manager, and then select Properties.
Click the dropdown menu labeled "Startup Type" and select the Disabled option. Click Apply to save the changes. You may need to restart your computer before the change takes effect.
If you encounter any problems, reactivate the service by following the same procedure except select the Enable option from the startup type menu.
