Sony Walkman MP3 players have several settings users can adjust according to their listening preferences. Some adjustments can have a negative impact on the sound quality, which the user may have trouble fixing. Sony designed their Walkman MP3 players with a factory reset to remove the user settings and restore the factory defaults. If you want to return your Sony Walkman MP3 player to the factory default settings, perform a factory reset.
Hold down the "Back" button on the device until the "Home" menu appears on the screen.
Use the navigation buttons to highlight "Settings" and press the ">||" button on the Walkman. Several options will appear on the screen.
Choose "Reset All Settings" with the up and down arrow buttons and press ">||." A new screen will pop up on the screen with a "Yes" and "No" option.
Select "Yes" with the right or left arrow button and press the ">||" button. The confirmation message "Restored Factory Settings" will appear on the screen.
The factory reset will delete your personal settings, but the music on the device will remain.
