How to Get a Straight Line on a Keyboard
Using a computer keyboard to create effects, pictures and designs with symbols has become common since the rise of email and instant messaging. The ability to create entire images using only the keyboard fascinates many, but some symbols are not regularly used and can be difficult to find. One important part of the creation of these images is the ability to create a straight line with the keyboard.
Press and hold the "Shift" key, then press and hold the hyphen "-" key, located two keys to the left of "Backspace" on a PC or "Delete" on a Mac. This creates a solid, horizontal straight line. Release the hyphen key to stop the line.
Press the "-" key repeatedly to create a straight, dotted horizontal line.
Press and hold the "Shift" key, then press the "\" key, located above "Enter" or "Return," to create a straight vertical line.
Press the "=" key, located one key to the left of "Backspace" on a PC or "Delete" on a Mac, repeatedly to create a dotted double horizontal line.
