How to Get My Computer Network Settings

By Stephen Lilley

If you're having a problem with Internet or local area network settings, the place where you can go to try to fix these is your computer's "Network Settings" folder. In this folder you can make a number of changes to any network connection you currently have on your computer. Finding this folder can be difficult if you're an inexperienced computer user, but, in general, it isn't very difficult to do.

Step 1

Click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. This will bring up a folder containing links to all of your computer's hard drives, as well as media drives like CD and DVD burners.

Step 2

Click on "My Network Places." This link can be found on the left side of the "My Computer" window.

Step 3

Click on "View Network Connections." This link can be found once again on the left side of the window you are currently viewing. This will bring up a list of any network connection you currently have on your computer, both enabled and disabled. From here you can make any changes and view any settings you wish.
