How to Hook up a Samsung TV
Samsung makes a variety of electronics, including high-definition televisions. Hooking up a Samsung TV depends on the type of television that you purchase. Samsung makes many different models, so consult your operator's manual first to see specific instructions for your television. If you lost your manual, Samsung provides them on their website for all their models. To hook up your Samsung TV, you will need cables for your cable box; stereo and audio cables for DVD players, laptops and other devices; and component cables for any other video or audio output.
Things You'll Need
- Cable plug
- Video/audio cables
- Component cables
- Samsung TV manual
Unpack all the contents of your Sony plasma television. For other models and TV types, use your owner's manual for hookup instructions or visit Samsung.com/us/support/downloads and enter the model name of your television to find your user manual. View your manual online and follow the instructions.
Connect the power-supply cord to the three-pronged plug at the bottom-left corner on the back of your Samsung TV. Plug the other end of the cord into the wall outlet.
Twist the cable for your cable box into the "ANT 2 IN (Cable)" terminal in the control panel at the back of the television. Screw the other end of the cable plug into the wall outlet.
Connect the cables for your DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver by connecting the audio cable or component cable. These cables supply audio and video, and usually are labeled in red, white, blue or yellow.
Connect the component cables at the back of the TV into the plugs marked "COMPONENT IN 1" and "COMPONENT OUT" on the DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver.
Plug in the audio cables underneath the "COMPONENT IN 1" panel into "COMPONENT in 2 [R-AUDIO-L]" and connect the other end to the "AUDIO OUT" on the DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver.
Connect an HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) cable at the back of the Samsung TV using the "HDMI IN 2" and the "HDMI Out" on the DVD player, computer, cable box or satellite receiver. If connecting a computer, to hear audio, you must also plug in a 3.5mm stereo plug to 2 RCA cable to the "DVI IN (HDMI 1) [R-AUDIO-L]" at the back of the Samsung TV and your computer's stereo jack.
