TVs and DVD players are designed to fit industry standards so that you can connect almost any device to another. Connecting a TV and a DVD player made by the same manufacturer ensures that your home-theater equipment will work together seamlessly. The connection method is similar to other equipment and can be completed in a few steps. Composite connections are the most common and are found on older and newer equipment.
Step 1
Turn the power off on the TV and the DVD player. For some TVs, you might want to consider removing the power chord from the wall outlet as well.

Locate the Input panel on the rear of the TV and find the "Composite In" or "Video In" ports. These are small, circular ports that yellow, red or white. Locate the "Output" panel on the rear of the DVD player and the "Composite Out" or "Video Out" ports.
Step 3
Insert one end of the yellow composite cable into the "Video Out" port on the rear of the TV and insert the other end into the yellow "Video In" port on the TV's Input panel. Insert one end of the red cable to the red "Audio Out" port and plug the other end into the "Audio In" port on the TV. Connect the white composite cable in the same manner.
Step 4
Turn on the power for the TV and the DVD player. Press the "Input" or "TV/Video" button until the correct input for the DVD is select and the DVD player screen appears on the TV. Your DVD player is now connected to your Toshiba TV.
