How to Make a Monthly Calendar with Recurring Events in Excel
The Microsoft Excel program's main feature is the ability to create detailed spreadsheets, which can include lengthy databases. Along with databases, you can also use the Excel program to create a spreadsheet-style calendar. Once the base for the calendar is completed, you can fill in events. For a calendar with recurring events, you can take advantage of the spreadsheet style and create columns to represent each event.
Open up a blank Excel spreadsheet. Click inside the first cell in the second row, which is cell A2.
Type the first date of the year for your calendar. For the year 2012, you would type "1/1/2012" into the cell.
Click the bottom-right corner of cell A2 and drag your cursor down column A. When you release the cursor, you can see that Excel has filled in the dates of January 2012 for you.
Continue to drag the cursor down column A; eventually you will see the month of February appear. If you look to the right as you drag, you see a small bubble that tells you what date you're currently up to. Proceed until you have completed the year. If you want, you can keep dragging into the next year, too.
Go back to the top of the page. Click inside cell B1 and type your first recurring event for the year. Move one cell to the right to C1 and type the second recurring event. Continue moving along the columns in the first row until all of the events have been filled in.
Scroll through your calendar and place the time of each event under the correct column and after the appropriate date. For example, if the first event you typed in cell B1 will take place on January 5, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., click inside cell B6 and type "5:00 PM." This gives you a quick and easy reference for the date and time that each event will take place.
Continue filling in times with their corresponding dates and events to complete the calendar.
