How to Play a Redbox DVD on a Laptop

By Chad Buleen

Redbox is a DVD kiosk service that can be found close to or just inside numerous stores and restaurants across the United States, including Wal-Mart, McDonald's, gas stations and supermarkets. The DVDs that you rent from Redbox are the same as DVDs you would rent from Blockbuster or Netflix and the DVDs that you would buy from the store. As long as your laptop has a DVD drive, it should be able to play any kind of DVD, including Redbox DVDs.

Step 1

Press the "Eject" button on the side of your laptop to open the DVD drive.

Step 2

Place the DVD in the drive, and listen for it to click into place.

Step 3

Push the DVD slot in until it fully closes.

Step 4

The DVD should start to play automatically. If it doesn't, click "Start" and type "Windows Media Player" in the Search field.

Step 5

Click "Windows Media Player" under Programs.

Step 6

Click the DVD icon in the player library that appears on-screen. The DVD will begin to play.
