Microsoft Windows 7 offers solid functionality for reinstalling sound playback devices. Microsoft compiled a plethora of drivers for sound playback devices in order to make the process extremely simple through Windows Update. If you enable Windows Update, your sound card will automatically install the latest driver. Fortunately, you can easily reinstall your device manually by using the built in functionality of Windows 7.

Click "Start," then click "Control Panel."
Click "System and Security." Go to "Device Manager" found under "System." Enter your administrator password once prompted.
Click "Driver" and then "Update driver." This will reinstall your sound playback device with the latest functionality. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
