How to Reset the Pioneer Plasma Safety Switch

Pioneer Plasma screen televisions sometimes lock up and display a single frame or a black screen. This is corrected by resetting the safety switch on the unit. The process of resetting the Pioneer Plasma safety switch is more complicated than it sounds and requires specific instructions to complete the task. Knowing how to reset the safety switch can be the difference between enjoying your television once again and being stuck on the same frame.

Step 1

Turn off the main power switch on the panel or unplug the power cord. Turn the switch on "Digital Assembly" from "Normal" to "Off." Turn the main power back on. The trap will have both red and green LEDs lit to confirm that the media and receiver are in standby mode.

Step 2

Press the "Display" button. Wait three to seven seconds, then press and release the left arrow, up arrow, left arrow, right arrow and the "Power" button in sequence. Listen to the panel for a slight click. The panel will now turn on in "Service Mode." Press the "Muting" button three, four or five times depending on your model.

Step 3

Press and hold the "Display" button until the red error indicator light turns on. Turn the soft power off, then main power off or unplug the unit. Wait 20 seconds and return the switch on "Digital Assembly" to the "Normal" position.
