There are two types of digital images: bitmap or raster graphics composed of pixels, and vector ones that contain the mathematical description of an image. Tagged image file format (TIFF) is a typical raster format that permits saving high-quality images but produces large files. Vector files have a small size and can be easily scaled up to any size or resolution--without losing graphics quality. The majority of graphics software uses the encapsulated postscript (EPS) format to work with the vector images. Use available software such as Adobe Illustrator specifically designed to work with the vector images or Web-based servers to convert a TIFF image into the vector format.

Step 1
Open Adobe Illustrator on your computer.

Click "File" and "Open" or press the "Ctrl" and "O" keys to open a TIFF file in Adobe Illustrator.

Click "File" and select "Save As."
Step 4
Select "EPS (*.eps)" in the "Save as type" box. Click "Save" to save the TIFF in the vector (EPS) format.

Step 1
Open the Neevia File Converter webpage (see Resources).

Choose "EPS" as the output format under "Conversion Settings."

Click "Browse" to find the TIFF file on your computer.
Step 4
Click "Upload & Convert" and wait for the message "Your document has been successfully converted."

Right-click on the file name with the extension ".eps" and select "Save Target As" to save the EPS vector image to your computer.
