How to Tell If a Cell Phone Charger Is Bad?

By Julie Duncan

Cell phones are a necessity these days and just about everyone has one. When relying on your cell phone, you need to make sure you have a good charger that will keep your phone charged and keep you connected with the world.

Step 1

Plug your cell phone charger into its power source. Many of the cell phone vehicle chargers have LED lights on the end of the charger to indicate when power is connected.

Step 2

Hook up the cell phone to the charger. If your charger is working, your cell phone will recognize the charger and indicate either by flashing the battery icon or displaying on the screen that the cell phone is charging. If the cell phone is not recognizing the charger, move to Step 3.

Step 3

Plug another device into the power source to determine if the power source is good. If the power source is working, you may need to just ensure that you have completely connected the charger to the power source and the cell phone to the charger.

Step 4

Plug the charger back into the power source and connect the cell phone to the charger again making sure there is a proper connection. If your cell phone still will not charge, your charger may be bad and need replacement.

Tips & Warnings
