Facebook's basic wall post text editor does not allow the use of HTML or shortcuts to type bold text; however, you can include bold text in Facebook when using Facebook Chat or Facebook Notes. The process to type bold text is different for each application. Bold text is generally used when you want to include a heading or emphasize a particular word in a sentence, or particular sentence in a paragraph.
Bold Text in a Facebook Note
Log in to Facebook and click "Notes." Click "Edit" beneath the note you want to add bold text to, or click on "Write New Note" to compose a new one.
Move to the point you want to create bold text. Type the opening bold tag before the word or sentence:
Move to the end of the word or sentence. Type the ending bold tag:
Click on "Publish" to save your changes.

Sign in to Facebook and open the chat box in the lower-right corner of the screen.
