Vizio televisions often allow you to choose between screen resolutions, such as 480p, 720p and 1080p. Changing these settings is the same procedure with nearly all Vizio models, as Vizio uses a nearly identical user interface menu on all of its HDTVs.
Press the "Menu" button on the side of your Vizio or on the Vizio remote control.
Navigate to the "Picture" menu with the arrows on the side of the television or on the remote, and press "Select" or "Enter."
Press the "down" arrow to navigate to the television resolution option.
Press "left" or "right" to edit this option. If you are changing the television's resolution from 480p to 720p, press the "right" arrow. To change from 1080p to 720p, press the "left" arrow.
Press "Last" on the Vizio remote or on the TV to exit the menu. The resolution settings are now set to 720p or any other picture option you chose.
Attempting to choose a television resolution higher than the resolution the television is receiving can cause serious viewing errors and reduce picture quality.
