TI-84 Plus Vs. TI-84 Plus Silver Edition

By Rachel Sandler

Although Texas Instruments has made many different graphing calculators, they are all very similar. There are, however, a few key differences between the TI 84 Plus and the later TI 84 Plus Silver Edition.

The TI 84 Plus

The TI-84 Plus has three times the memory and two times the speed of the older TI-83 Plus. It can still be programmed using TI Basic programming language and has the added ability of storing games and applications, such as study cards, which were unavailable on earlier calculator models.

The TI 84 Plus Silver Edition

The TI-84 Plus Silver Edition also claims to have twice the speed of the TI-83 Plus, but with nine times the memory. The preloaded applications include a periodic table of the elements and an organizer, helpful for students taking chemistry. The Silver Edition also features changeable face plates in multiple colors if purchased online.

Is One Better?

The TI-84 Plus and the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition have identical operating systems. For $10 more, the Silver Edition will provide users with three times the space to store programs and applications along with a customizable appearance.
