Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp all went down midday on Monday. If you're addicted to social media like most of us, you're probably very well aware of the issue. Facebook is also aware of the issue. The company released a statement via Twitter, because how else would they release a statement?
"We're aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products." Facebook said on Twitter. "We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Since there's no Facebook or Instagram, naturally, people have taken to Twitter. In fact, Twitter has recorded a record number of people using its platform at one time. The social media company tweeted a warm hello to all of its new visitors, which is quite literally, everyone.

A day without Facebook and Instagram will do us all some good. Maybe it'll remind everyone that, contrary to what Facebook wants us to think, there's life outside of social media.
