TikTok is rolling out a new dislike button that aims to help make the comments section gain more authenticity.

If you're a TikTok user, you probably peruse the comments section regularly, looking for reactions, follow up, or even an explanation as to what you just watched. As with most social media platforms, some users post comments that are irrelevant, inappropriate, or hateful on TikTok.

The new button will push the most disliked comments down from the top of the list, so others won't see them as easily. The button is a thumbs down icon, which can be found to the right of the heart-shaped like button next to each comment on a TikTok video.

TikTok says the dislike button was created as a way to hear direct feedback from users. "This allows us to better identify irrelevant or inappropriate comments, which helps us foster a comment section for genuine and authentic interactions."

The number of dislikes on a comment will not be shown, and you can take back your feedback by tapping on the button again whenever you want to.
