Acer is a popular name in the world of both desktop and laptop computers and as a rule these devices are user friendly. Computer owners may want to make adjustments to their monitors to change the look and feel of the screen. Every user will have different needs when it comes to viewing the monitor screen, but adjusting the monitor settings to your liking is easy.

Step 1

Log on to your Acer laptop and click on the "Start" button. Choose "Control Panel" from the menu.

Step 2

Double-click on the "Display" icon in "Control Panel" and select the "Settings" tab. Check the "Color Quality" settings and make sure they are set to either medium or high. The high setting will give you better color quality and contrast, but it will also use more system resources and shorten battery life. If you are operating on battery power you may want to move the setting to medium.

Step 3

Hold down the "Fn" key and press the right arrow at the same time. This key combination will increase the brightness of your screen. To decrease the brightness and contrast, hold the "Fn" key down and press the left arrow. Continue using these key combinations until you have found the optimal setting for your laptop display.
