How to Connect a Jawbone to an iPhone

Handsfree options for cell phone users include wired or wireless headsets. Wireless headsets utilize a technology called Bluetooth, which requires an initial pairing between the cell phone and headset. Jawbone is a line of wireless headsets that work with all Bluetooth-enabled cell phones, including the iPhone.

Step 1

Enable pairing mode on the Jawbone. For the Original Jawbone, press and hold the "Noise Shield" button for up to 3 seconds until the LED status indicator light flashes red and white alternately. For the Jawbone PRIME or New Jawbone, press and hold the "Noise Assassin" and "Talk" buttons simultaneously for up to 3 seconds until the LED status indicator light flashes red and white alternately.

Step 2

Enable pairing mode on the iPhone. Tap the "Settings" icon on the iPhone Home Screen. Tap "General" in the settings menu to access the basic settings for the iPhone. Tap "Bluetooth" and the "On/Off" slider to turn Bluetooth on. The iPhone will enter pairing mode and begin looking for Bluetooth devices within range.

Step 3

Pair the Jawbone with the iPhone. Tap "Jawbone" in the list of Devices in the Bluetooth menu on the iPhone. Enter the pin number "0000" when prompted by the iPhone and tap "Connect." The two devices should now be paired. Test the connection by placing a call from the iPhone while wearing the Jawbone.

Tip

If the Jawbone is not listed under Devices on the iPhone while in pairing mode, move the two devices closer together to make sure they are within Bluetooth range.

Due to distance limitations of Bluetooth, call quality on the Jawbone will decrease as you move farther away from the iPhone.
