How to Connect a Laptop to a Sceptre LCD TV

By Megan Faust

Sceptre LCD HDTVs come equipped with multiple HDMI and other auxiliary inputs to create a variety of entertainment opportunities. One way to enjoy your Sceptre TV is to connect it with your laptop for streaming movies. Make this connection using an HDMI cable.

Things You'll Need

  • Sceptre TV
  • Laptop
  • HDMI cable

Step 1

Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on each device.

Step 2

Turn on the computer and the television.

Step 3

Click the "Input Mode" button on the TV remote control. Scroll through the options and select "PC" from the list. Once you select this option, the TV displays "PC" in the upper-right-hand corner.

Step 4

Press the "Fn" (function) key and the "F8" key simultaneously on your laptop. This sends the display from your laptop to your TV. Alternate methods, available on some laptops, are to press a key that shows a picture of a monitor or one that is labeled "CRT/LCD." Change back and forth between displays by repeating this step. Adjust the sound on the computer or on the TV using the volume controls.
