Before attempting to connect Bose to a Samsung smart TV, examine the port options to determine which cable is a best fit. The cables are often purchased separately, leaving the choice to the user. The most common connection is a HDMI cable because the cable is a digital connection that delivers crisp audio. The HDMI or the newer HDMI Arc which lets the soundbar and television work in both directions are preferred by discerning users but is far from the only option.

Another common option is the optical cable which also delivers a clear digital sound. Optical cables are common and are used to connect Blu-ray, cable boxes, Xbox systems and numerous other exterior devices. Optical cables are an easy option for linking the Bose speaker to a Samsung TV.

Lastly, a basic auxiliary cable used to connect speakers will also suffice. The auxiliary cable can connect a phone to car stereos and just about any device with a basic audio jack. The HDMI or optical cable connection provides better quality and is a more viable option than an old style auxiliary cable but this connection remains viable for older Bose surround sound systems.

The auxiliary cable option is especially easy to setup but the sound quality is lacking when compared to the digital cables. Plug the cable into the Aux In port on the Bose speaker and the Audio Out port on the television. Choose the Source option on the Bose remote and set to AUX to finalize the sound connection. Turn on the television sound and it will now play through the Bose system.

Bluetooth Connections

The last method of connecting the Samsung television and Bose sound system is through Bluetooth. The wireless transmission is nice for temporary setups and for avoiding hardwired connections in general. While Bluetooth does not have the high quality sound found with digital cable connections, it does offer an easy means of bridging the connection.

Bose Soundbar 500 Setup

The Bose soundbar 500 is a popular model and the 700 is also a common choice. Both models utilize the same hardwired connections with the option for Bluetooth. The 500 and 700 models have exceptional sound quality and utilizing a digital HDMI or Coaxial cable connection will delivery the best sound quality.
