Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a text-based language designed to store and carry data, and is commonly used in website and database development. Portable Document Format (PDF) files have the capacity to be read by nearly any computer that utilizes PDF reading software, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. A PDF file can easily be converted to an XML file by following a few simple steps.
Launch the Adobe Acrobat Pro program.
Open the PDF document that you want to convert to an XML file.
Click once on the "Export" drop down menu, and select the "XML" conversion option. In this example, "XML 1.0" is chosen.
Type the name of the file in the "File name" field. Acrobat Pro will automatically populate this field using the name of the original document. Use the "Save in" drop down menu to locate the folder to where you want to save the XML file. Click once on the "Save" button. Adobe Acrobat Pro will convert the document to an XML file, but the file will not automatically launch.
Right click once on the Windows "Start" button, and select "Explore."
Click once on the folder to which you saved the XML file to view and launch the converted PDF file.
