On some laptops it may be difficult to locate and activate the "Num Lock" key. Depending on the laptop, it may be hidden as a function where you have to press two keys. Most of the time, a laptop keyboard is just like a full desktop computer keyboard and it has a "Num Lock" key on it. Most people do not realize the "Num Lock" key is on their laptop keyboard because it barely serves a purpose without a full numeric keypad.

Press the "Num Lock" key on the laptop at the top, right of the keyboard.

Press the "Num Lock" key and the "Fn" key simultaneously if the above does not work.

Press "Fn" and "F11" simultaneously on the keyboard to activate the "Num Lock" function. Some laptops, like Toshiba, do have a "Num Lock" key. The shortcut for G3 Mac laptops it is "F5," and on G4 Mac laptops it is "F6."
