How to Hook a Wii to an LG TV

By Jule Pamplin

The Nintendo Wii console allows players to control the game action by using motion instead of traditional video game controls. Connect the Wii console to an LG TV by either directly connecting the included AV Multi out connector to the RCA inputs or adding an HDMI converter for high fidelity display. The motion sensor bar for the Wii system can be mounted above or below the LG TV set, to capture your motions and control the on-screen user interface.

Things You'll Need

  • HDMI converter (optional)
  • HDMI cable (optional)

Connecting to the TV's RCA Inputs

Step 1

Place the Wii console near the LG TV, on a shelf or TV stand. Connect the power cable to the DC input on the lower part of the game system's rear panel. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet or surge protection strip.

Step 2

Plug the AV Multi out cable plug into the AV output on the back of the console, above the DC input port.

Step 3

Plug the RCA plugs into the corresponding inputs on the AV-1 or AV-2 inputs on the LG TV. The AV-1 ports are located on the back of the TV under the "Component In" ports. The AV-2 ports are located on the right side of the LG TV.

Step 4

Plug the yellow RCA plug into the port labeled "Video." Plug the red plug into the port labeled "Audio R." Plug the white RCA plug into the port labeled "Audio L."

Step 5

Place the Wii game console sensor bar on top of the LG TV, or under it on the shelf of the TV stand.

Step 6

Route the sensor bar connector cable to the Wii console, and plug it into the sensor bar input adjacent to the AV Multi out port.

Connecting Through an HDMI Converter
