How to Make a Tummy Slim in Photoshop CS5

Although diet pills, specialty drinks, crunch machines and surgery promises to slim down stomachs, these procedures can all be dangerous, expensive, timely and painful. Indulge in an on-screen makeover with no recovery time needed by using Adobe Photoshop CS5 to trim your stomach. Give yourself an hourglass figure or just see how you’d appear with slightly less of a belly bulge using the graphics tools Photoshop offers.

Step 1

Start Adobe Photoshop CS5, and click “File,” then click “Open.” Browse to the picture with the stomach to contour and double-click the image file name.

Step 2

Zoom in if the torso isn’t large and centered on the Photoshop canvas by pressing the “Ctrl” and “+” keys together on the keyboard.

Step 3

Select the “Lasso” tool, third icon from the top of the “Tools” pane. Draw an outline around just the stomach, such as a few inches above and below the belly button area.

Step 4

Right-click the blinking lines and select “Layer via Copy.” The blinking lines go away, but the layer still shows in the “Layers” palette on the right side of the screen.

Step 5

Click the “Edit” menu, and select “Transform,” then click “Warp.” A grid of nine squares appears around the stomach.

Step 6

Click one of the black dots on the left side of the grid. Slowly drag it in towards the middle of the grid. Repeat with the other black dot on that side. That side of the stomach now begins to appear like the left half of an hourglass.

Step 7

Repeat with the two black dots on the right side of the stomach until you’ve reached your preferred slimdown style. Press the “Enter” key to set the warp and remove the grid from the canvas.

Step 8

Right-click the Layer 1 layer in the palette and select “Flatten Image.” Click the “File” menu and select “Save As.” Enter a new name in case you want to refer back to the original and click the “Save” button.
