From YouTube to Hulu there are millions of videos scattered throughout the Internet world. Although some videos stream and play at the same time, you may be required to wait for the video to complete its download before watching it. This can be aggravating, especially if the video doesn't want to download. Luckily, there are a few tricks and techniques you can use to speed up the load time.

Step 1

Shut down extra programs that you may be running while trying to load the video. If the video is long and takes up a large amount of memory, extra programs running in the background can use up system resources and cause the video to slow down.

Step 2

Close out any extra Internet browser windows that may be open. This directs all the bandwidth towards just the video so it loads faster.

Step 3

Clear out the cache files and browsing files. In Internet Explorer go to "Tools," followed by "Internet Options" and finally the "General" Tab. In the "General" tab, click "Delete Files" under "Temporary Internet Files." In Firefox click "Tools," "Clear Private Data" and "Clear Private Data Now."

Step 4

Move closer to your wireless router if you're using one. If you are further away from the wireless router your Internet connection speed is going to drop off, causing the video to load slower.

Step 5

Talk to you Internet provider. Increase your Internet access speed, as this allows your video to load faster.
