How to Make Your Own Award Certificates

By Kathryn Hatter

Everyone appreciates receiving awards for hard work. Make special notice of hard work and exemplary performance by presenting award certificates to employees or students. Make free certificates that say exactly what you desire using Microsoft Word 2007 and one of the many free templates available for download from the Microsoft website. The process to make an award certificate is very quick and easy.

Things You'll Need

  • Color printer

Step 1

Visit (see "Additional Resources," below) and click on the "Templates" link near the top of the page. Click on "Award Certificates" near the center of the page.

Step 2

Browse through the numerous pages of award certificates to select a certificate you want to download. To view a larger version of any certificate, click once on the image.

Step 3

Click on the image of the certificate you want, and then select the "Download" button. If you have never downloaded a template before, the Microsoft website will verify that you are using a genuine version of Microsoft Office. After your product has been verified, the download will begin.

Step 4

Designate the location on your hard drive where you want to save the certificate. The Microsoft program necessary for editing the certificate will open automatically after the certificate finishes downloading.

Step 5

Click on a field within the certificate to select it for editing. Delete the existing text and replace it with the specific names and dates you want. Continue editing the certificate to change all of the necessary text.

Step 6

Name the certificate and save it on your hard drive. Print out the certificate with a color printer.
