Ping is a command that verifies IP-level connectivity to another TCP/IP computer by sending Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packets. You can use the infinite ping command to keep an Internet connection active. The infinite ping command keeps sending an infinite number of packets, as opposed to the regular ping command that only sends four packets. This way, you can keep your your existing Internet connection active as long as you want.
