How to Remove Encryption Partition on Kingston Flash Drive

By TS Jordan

Partition encryption on your Kingston flash drive protects the stored data, but sometimes you want to forgo the protection of an encrypted partition in lieu of a general partition that can be read by anyone. Remove encrypted status from the partition of your drive by formatting the partition using a non-encrypted standard, a process that takes just minutes to complete.

Step 1

Plug the Kingston drive into the computer.

Step 2

Click "Start" and select "Computer."

Step 3

Right-click the letter of the Kingston drive and select "Format."

Step 4

Select a non-encrypted file system such as NTFS or FAT32 from the drop down menu and press "Enter" to reformat the drive, removing encryption.
